AISM Admission Policy

AISM has a solid open admission policy. The school serves students without regard to race, color, gender, religion, disability, or age to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally made available to students at the school in keeping with its goals of providing quality and affordable education and training. Student’s enrollment is based on academic skills, assessments, interviews, previous achievements and other criteria.

AISM Tuition & Fees Policy

All tuition and fees are payable thirty days prior to the start of each trimester. All outstanding fees related to the Basic Science Program must be paid before entering the Clinical Medicine Program. All indebtedness to AISM must be cleared before a final diploma and/or transcripts are issued.

Application Fees: Application fees are for Admissions to All of the American International School of Medicine Programs and are Non-Refundable.

AISM Refund Policy

There is no refund for application fees paid. A 25% is refunded on tuition if the student request to discontinue classes during the first month of the academic term.

CARICOM Nationals and students of Guyanese parentage can apply for the CARICOM MD Award. Students granted awards are NOT eligible for refund of tuition.

AISM Withdrawal Policy

Dismissal

A student may be involuntarily dismissed from AISM for any of the following reasons.
1. Failure of all courses attempted in a single semester.
2. Failure to maintain an overall average of 75% or “C” or “P”
3. Cheating, stealing, or other unethical conduct in school.
4. Violations of the laws and statutes of Guyana/United States or jurisdiction of instructions.

Withdrawal from a Course

A student wishing to withdraw from the program must do so by submitting a withdrawal request
form to the Office of Student Services. The form with the signature of the Student Affairs Officer
will then be submitted to the office of the Dean.

Please Note:
Ceasing to attend class does not constitute official withdrawal nor does verbal notification to the
instructor. Stopping payment for tuition does not constitute withdrawal. The Dean will finalize and
officially notify the student.

Basic Sciences Course Withdrawal
AISM Students are permitted to withdraw from any particular course with sufficient reason before
50% of the course time has elapsed.

Semester Withdrawal
AISM Students are permitted to withdraw from any basic science semester with sufficient reason
before 50% of the course, time has elapsed.

Clinical Sciences
AISM Student may withdraw from a clinical clerkship with sufficient reason before 50% of the
course time elapsed. Withdrawal from the course will not be accepted after that period and the student
will be marked fail on the transcript if the course is not completed successfully.
